Sworn Translators in Spain

This association of sworn translators is made up of professional linguists who translate from Galician or into Galician. Its translators are certified by an official Spain official agency or department.

Sworn translations, also known as official or certified translations, include the translator’s signature, his or her identification details, a stamp and a certificate stating that the original document has been faithfully translated into or from Galician. This type of service is usually required for the translation of official documents, notarial deeds, patents, contracts, company statutes or academic certificates to be submitted before an agency, court or academic institution.

The current Spanish association of sworn translators is located in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and the translations signed by its members are acknowledged and officially accepted in Spain and other countries.

Professional Translators for Galician

Association of Professional Translators for the Galician language. Translators are professional linguists who perform written translations, as opposed to oral or spoken translation, which is done by interpreters. In this type of associations we usually find translators specializing in many fields: technical, legal, medical, pharmaceutical and scientific. We might also find sworn/official translators who have been authorized by a Spanish agency or department.

Galician translators are mostly freelancers working from home for their own clients or for translation agencies. They sometimes team up with other Galician and other language translators and proofreaders to expand their range of services. The work of a Galician translator consists of thoroughly understanding the text to be translated, getting to know the subject matter, carrying out terminology research and knowing the computer tools to help with translation, which will enable him/her to offer a cost-effective and quality work.

This particular Spanish association is made up of translators of various specializations and language combinations.  There is probably another association in Spain focusing on sworn translators, technical translators, audiovisual translators or court translators. If there is any, you will find the link below.
