Association of Professional Translators for the Greek language. Translators are professional linguists who perform written translations, as opposed to oral or spoken translation, which is done by interpreters. In this type of associations we usually find translators specializing in many fields: technical, legal, medical, pharmaceutical and scientific. We might also find sworn/official translators who have been authorized by a Cypriot agency or department.
Greek translators are mostly freelancers working from home for their own clients or for translation agencies. They sometimes team up with other Greek and other language translators and proofreaders to expand their range of services. The work of a Greek translator consists of thoroughly understanding the text to be translated, getting to know the subject matter, carrying out terminology research and knowing the computer tools to help with translation, which will enable him/her to offer a cost-effective and quality work.

Professional Interpreters for Greek
The interpreters of this association are focused on spoken translation between Greek and other languages. There are several methods of interpretation: simultaneous, conference, liaison or whispered. “Pancypriot Union of Graduated Translators and Interpreters” provides a directory of Greek interpreters who are available to offer their services in Cyprus. The head office is in Nicosia, but the interpreters work all over Cyprus. Interpreters often work for international organisations such as the European Parliament, the UN or NATO.
