Iranian Association of Certified Translators and Interpreters
(Iranian Association of Certified Translators and Interpreters)

Sworn Translators in Iran

This association of sworn translators is made up of professional linguists who translate from Arabic or into Arabic. Its translators are certified by an official Iran official agency or department.

Sworn translations, also known as official or certified translations, include the translator’s signature, his or her identification details, a stamp and a certificate stating that the original document has been faithfully translated into or from Arabic. This type of service is usually required for the translation of official documents, notarial deeds, patents, contracts, company statutes or academic certificates to be submitted before an agency, court or academic institution.

The current Iranian association of sworn translators is located in Tehran (Iran) and the translations signed by its members are acknowledged and officially accepted in Iran and other countries.

Professional Interpreters for Arabic

The interpreters of this association are focused on spoken translation between Arabic and other languages. There are several methods of interpretation: simultaneous, conference, liaison or whispered. “Iranian Association of Certified Translators and Interpreters” provides a directory of Arabic interpreters  who are available to offer their services in Iran. The head office is in Tehran, but the interpreters work all over Iran. Interpreters often work for international organisations such as the European Parliament, the UN or NATO. Arabic interpreters are also needed in hospitals, at trade fairs or at international summits where political leaders meet.

Simultaneous Arabic interpretation is needed at conferences, on television or at any event where participants need to understand a speaker in real time and without interruptions. The special thing about this is that technical equipment such as booths, microphones and headphones are required.

In consecutive interpreting, Arabic interpreters interrupt the speaker and translate the speech one chunk at a time. They can be seen, for example, at informal press conferences, which are often improvised and do not have the necessary equipment.

And finally there is the so-called whispered interpretation between Arabic and other languages, where the interpreter acts as an intermediary in a conversation between two people and translates in a low voice.
