Association of Professional Translators for the English / Welsh language. Translators are professional linguists who perform written translations, as opposed to oral or spoken translation, which is done by interpreters. In this type of associations we usually find translators specializing in many fields: technical, legal, medical, pharmaceutical and scientific. We might also find sworn/official translators who have been authorized by a British agency or department.

English / Welsh translators are mostly freelancers working from home for their own clients or for translation agencies. They sometimes team up with other English / Welsh and other language translators and proofreaders to expand their range of services. The work of a English / Welsh translator consists of thoroughly understanding the text to be translated, getting to know the subject matter, carrying out terminology research and knowing the computer tools to help with translation, which will enable him/her to offer a cost-effective and quality work.

Professional Interpreters for English / Welsh

The interpreters of this association are focused on spoken translation between English / Welsh and other languages. There are several methods of interpretation: simultaneous, conference, liaison or whispered. “Association of Welsh Translators and Interpreters” provides a directory of English/Welsh interpreters  who are available to offer their services in United Kingdom. The head office is in Bangor, but the interpreters work all over United Kingdom. Interpreters often work for international organisations such as the European Parliament, the UN or NATO.
