Literary Translator in Dutch

Literary translation from or into Dutch consists in the translation of works of literature and therefore can be the most creative and challenging of all translation jobs. There are several aspects that differentiate it from other types of translation, since literature allows us to exchange experiences and ideas, develops the aesthetic sense, transmits values and is an infinite source of entertainment.

Literary translators of  Dutch usually belong to writers’ associations, or to a section of an association for Belgians translators in general. Literary translation from or into Dutch has usually more freedom to go away from the original text, to adapt cultural references and sometimes to add or eliminate certain aspects of the original version.

This association includes for the most part translators who translate from a foreign language into Dutch. It is based in  Antwerp (Belgium) and its professionals are focused on Belgians readers and on Dutch culture.
